When your Heating, Ventilation, & A/C device dies, you can sell it back to certain Heating, Ventilation, & A/C companies! They will take it for parts & reclaim some of them, but it won’t make you much money when you do it. I did my homework & realized I would get more money if I were to just scrap my heating unit. I had an old boiler unit in my basement for around 20 years, but when it died, I called my brother Bob & the 2 of us moved it out, it was not an easy job, though! In fact, nothing about the whole process was simple at all. New boiler systems are sleek, small & really look up to date; my boiler didn’t fit any of those bills. The heating system was as tall as Bob is & it was way wider. It took everything Bob & I had to lift it, but Bob and I had to remove all the hookups from it first. Then the 2 of us had to carry it up the stairs of the basement, through a slender opening & then all the way out my front door. I scraped my hands all over, Bob banged his hip & then boiler almost knocked us off the stairs. He and I then drove the heating system to the scrap place & took it back out of the car. The amount of money we got for the boiler unit was sort of worth the work, but after doing this whole adventure with the furnace, I don’t think I’ll ever scrap again. I think it’s worth taking less money & having some hired help move it for me. Besides, I would have had a good time watching them struggle! And at the end of the day, I still had to split the money I did make with Bob.
