Ever since both of us moved into our house more than six years ago, we’ve been talking about putting an addition onto the back of the house. The people I was with and I need extra space because we’ve had a few kids and now our in-laws are moving in with us too; We’re building an extra two story addition and so now both of us are trying to figure out exactly what we’re going to be doing with the heating and cooling system in the addition. We’re going to add heating vents and ductwork to our existing Heating and Air Conditioning component that’s already in the house, however our Heating and Air Conditioning serviceman told us that the load on our existing oil furnace and cooling system is really just going to be too much for it to handle. I think that means that we’re going to have to replace the Heating and Air Conditioning system in the house so both of us will have one that will work for the addition as well. It’s either that or both of us will have to get two separate smaller Heating and Air Conditioning units that run with two separate thermostats. I’m not sure which would be better for us as far as our heating and cooling bills go from now on. I think it’s 6 of one or a half dozen of the other when it comes down to it. If both of us do have to get a greater Heating and Air Conditioning unit, it’s going to cost us a lot more up front, I guess. I recognize both of us are going to hire an Heating and Air Conditioning corporation to come and provide us an quote before both of us truly start building the current addition; Hopefully the Heating and Air Conditioning serviceman will be able to provide us his opinion on what our best chance will be.
