When having our new building constructed we had crucial plans for it. It is a big steel building with a full attic space over the top and we were happy to finally be able to afford the task. The finished building is entirely nice and we had planned for a garage, workshop, and entertainment area. The problem with a steel building is that fact that it is basically the same temperature as the outside without any insulation. It also echos any sound from the rain or falling debris from the trees. Both of us decided that we needed to add both weather and sound buffering insulation to the entire inside of the building… Now, this was love closing the barn door after the horse got out in many respects. If we had just let the business do this to begin with he would have had the official ladders, tools, and manpower to make the task much easier. Now, we had to purchase a ladder and spend weeks doing what would have taken a few minutes, but both of us wanted to be able to heat and cool the entertainment section and without insulation it would have been less effective and cost us a fortune each month on our utility bills. Before starting any other projects in the building we called out our Heating and AC business to give us advice on the type of Heating and A/C unit to install. He recommended a ventless furnace that could be fueled by a propane tank. This would enable us to heat the space when we wanted to use it without having to maintain a constant temperature all the time. This was a good system and we were able to install it before we finished the insulation. I only wish we had done more planning before going through with the project to begin with.
