Sometime, you think from the start you have an awful proprietor, but the rent or location is too hard to pass up. You take the new house and just suffer through the drawbacks, but recently, I rented a small cottage in a nice area of town. I wanted to be closer to my work, so I took the rent increase for all the positives that my new to me cottage would offer me. Honestly, I didn’t check out the proprietor as thoroughly as I tend to do, for this beach beach house was in such a better village than others I had rented, and well, I learned my lesson the hard way. Fall was setting in fast in our neck of the woods and the cold was bitterly felt in the early morning minutes. I knew it was time to turn on the Heating and A/C system. I went over to the control device to give it a gentle start. I knew you needed to go slow with any unit, when it hasn’t been in gear for some time. Well, the sound was bad. I mean bad. It screeched, it blasted and it stunk care about there was no end in site! This was bad. I called the proprietor for minutes, then afternoons and finally after a month of being frozen, I gave up. I called the local Heating and A/C provider to come over and look at the system. He said that he hadn’t maintenanced this device since it was installed years ago! He opened the vents that were rusted shut and the filters were completely plugged. The air duct was infested with mold and dead bugs! The entire heating and cooling device needed to be replaced. The proprietor finally called me back. He knew he was at fault and approved all of the work and replacement.
