We are tying our new HVAC system in with the old one

We bought a really old house last summer and we have been working on restoring it a little bit at a time.

We are finally to the point where it’s time to start making some decisions about the HVAC system and what we are going to do about it.

This house was built back before air conditioning was even really widespread at all. Not everyone had air conditioning back then, least of all central air conditioning. But these days, everyone wants it in their homes, including me. Even if we decide to flip this home and sell it to someone else, it’s almost a guarantee that we won’t be able to sell the place if we don’t install central air conditioning in it. The house had an old wood stove in the middle of the living room as the main heating system, and of course that was something that we wanted to update too. We knew when we bought the place that we were going to have to install a new heating and cooling system, but we thought that it would be easier to decide on what sort of HVAC system we would purchase. Now that we are trying to figure out which sort of furnace we want to put in, it’s getting hard to narrow down the choices. I never knew that there were so many different types and sizes of electric furnaces and oil furnaces out there, but I’m learning way more about it than I ever thought I would. Maybe by the time all of this is over, I might decide to go and get my HVAC certification.
