When I started my new job as a paralegal downtown last month, I never dreamed that I would have to start buying a whole new wardrobe because of it. I mean, I already had a lot of business clothing and business casual type suits and dresses, but that’s not what I’m talking about. My problem is that all of the clothing that I already own just isn’t warm enough to wear inside the building that my office is located in! You might think that I’m exaggerating, but the maintenance team in the office building just has no clue what they are doing when it comes to managing the heating and air conditioning in our office building. I think I’m going to freeze to death on a daily basis because of the air conditioning vents that are over my head in the ceiling of the office. It’s really ridiculous. No office should have their air conditioning set that low on their thermostat device. I asked my manager about it and he said that the office is always cold and that he has no control over the air conditioning. He says that he doesn’t really even have access to the thermostat control system – it’s something that the maintenance office has to deal with. I’ve called maintenance a dozen times, but the office still isn’t heating up at all. I’ve all but given up and decided to start buying warm clothing instead. And maybe I’ll buy myself a little space heater to park right next to my desk while I’m at it, too.
