This house is okay after all

Heat waves are a nightmare for many folks. As for me, I don’t mind it at all, bring on the heat! I don’t have A/C, because I don’t mind getting a little warm in the heat. I just go around in a sports bra and shorts around the house, and throw on a crop top and sandals to leave when I need to. If the heat gets to be too much, I’ll take a cold bath or a shower, or just go for a relaxing swim at the local lake. It’s my pets I most worry about. When I was a kid, we would always take the pets outside and hose them down, and the ice cold water would make them so happy, and we sometimes took them swimming with us. When I got my first place though, I couldn’t have pets anymore–rental properties up north are unreasonable about having pets of any kind, and ever since I started living on my own, I’ve had a great little dog who I adore. While I can survive the heat, he struggles with it more. He finds the coldest spot of the house, often in unusual corners of rooms, and spreads out to try and keep comfortable. Houses with full HVAC systems are expensive up here, so I almost never have air conditioning to relieve him. I have a big box fan that puts out cooled air, and I often put it more on him than me. I also found out I can rub him down with an ice pack when it gets to be much for him. As long as he’s comfortable in the heat, I’m happy.
