My husband and I got married five years ago. Shortly after our wedding, we moved into an apartment while we looked for the perfect home. We expected to be in this apartment temporarily. We signed a lease for only three months. Little did we know, finding the perfect home would take much longer. We ended up staying in that apartment for two years. It was worth it in the end. My husband and I had a very particular list of things we wanted in our home, which delayed the process a bit. For example, we wanted a home that was built in the early 1900s with a very victorian look, but we weren’t willing to do a lot of work on the house. One thing we were willing to work on was the heating and cooling system. In fact, my husband wanted to completely update the heating and cooling system. After finding our dream home, the first thing we did was call a heating and cooling consultant. My husband’s specific requests on the update delayed completion and therefore delayed our move. He initially wanted a smart thermostat. The heating and cooling specialist started working on our home, but part way through, my husband decided he also wanted heated floors. This further delayed completion by a few weeks because this was a major update. It required them to install pipes underneath the floorboards. It was frustrating, but I knew my husband was making the best decisions for us. Anyway, in the end, it was all worth it. We ended up with our dream home.
