I tried to instill a sense of discipline in my kids. To be fair, they make good grades and for the most part, they stay out of trouble. However, there are some things that they are spoiled rotten over. When they were younger it was different, but now it’s difficult to get them out of the house to go out and get some exercise. They’re too busy with their phones and video games and computers, and I don’t think it’s natural for them to stay cooped up in this house so much! It’s like they fear going outside, and now that I think of it, that’s related to something else they’re spoiled over. Before I got zone controlled heating and air, my son and daughter would always fight over the thermostat. Mind you, me and my wife had our own ideas about what the ideal temperature was at any given time, and it would annoy us too. I’m the one that pays the electric bill, and yet they still seemed entitled to setting the heating or air too high, as it suited them. Well, zone control HVAC put an end to that. All we needed to do was set up some dampers in the air ducts leading to each room, which could increase or restrict airflow as needed, depending on the occupant of the rooms preferred temperature. They even each got their own separate thermostat for their rooms. Unfortunately, now they barely ever leave said rooms. I can tell you that I didn’t have such convenient technology growing up, and I think I was better for it!
