There are some things nobody tells you when you buy a new home. I should elaborate here that my new home I mean new to me. I bought my home back in 2013 and I have dealt with all sorts of little things that nobody tells you about. For instance, did you know that insulation deteriorates over time? It’s true! I haven’t had to deal with that particular problem yet, but I guess if I live to be old enough I might have to. Another problem that you are just supposed to know about is dirty air quality. It is an important thing that the air you are breathing in your home is clean, so if it isn’t then you need to do something about it. The first place to check if your home is really dusty is the air filter. The air filter is part of your HVAC system and traps dust and particles coming in through the furnace or air conditioner before they can get into your home. A lot of people I have come across think the air filter only needs to be changed out once a year, but when I looked up my model air cleaner I found that it was actually three to four times a year. The difference is quite noticeable too. On the topic of HVAC systems, you are also supposed to get them looked at once a year by an HVAC technician to make sure everything is operational. Most people don’t even know that and only call an HVAC repair company if there is something wrong.
