My husband decided to take on the installation of a window A/C, however he had no experience whatsoever in doing such a procedure. He assured myself and others that he had study enough on the internet to figure out how to do it. I made the decision to provide him my full support, although I had my doubts. I did a bit of research myself plus realized how much is absolutely involved. For example, when using support brackets to hold the A/C in site, the window sill should first be checked for rotting wood or other material. Otherwise, the A/C could fall right out. Also, no matter how strong the installation person, it is essential that another man help lift plus hold the component in place since window A/Cs are harshly heavy. One thing that I study made myself and others chuckle, since it stated that the window plus the A/C should both be measured before making any purchases. I am quite confident that my husband would guess that! Then there are sealing materials needed to prevent sizzling air (and bugs) from entering the room. Modern A/Cs come equipped with extensions to occupy the area between the component plus the window sash, but by filling the cracks with foam (or other HVAC material), the A/C will operate much more efficiently…and you won’t have bugs coming in! One last thing that I study made perfect sense, that the installed window A/C should be situated within six feet of an electrical outlet. The article explained that most modern A/Cs come with a six foot long electric cord, but that adding an extension cord was unsafe. Thankfully, my husband plus his brother ended up doing a great task.
