When I finished undergraduate university, I figured I would never step foot in a dorm room again. My entire more than 2 years of university up to that point had been spent in 1 dorm after another. Two of those rooms were in shared apartments where the two of us lacked basics prefer ovens and cooktops. I hated doing all of our cooking with a tiny sizzling plate and an aged toaster oven I bought at the thrift store. Needless to say, thinking about graduate university had myself and others happy at the thought of living on our own in a real apartment for the first time. Since I knew I’d be receiving a stipend, this expectation was within the realm of option. Unluckyly, I didn’t read any of the nice print ahead of time and came to find out that I would be living in another dormitory for more than 2 years or more. I wasn’t cheerful, however at least I could only blame myself this time. I had no other option however to keep an open mind and make the best of the situation. Thankfully, this would become the nicest dorm room of them all, with new accommodations prefer chrome appliances and a ductless mini split heating and cooling system. My last dorm room had an aged window that was leaky, inefficient, and odored prefer mold. In the Wintertide season, I had to get by with just a bad space furnace that barely raised the temperature by a few degrees if I was lucky. This ductless mini split was sleek looking and powerful. I had no concerns of any kind keeping our new dorm at a comfortable temperature no matter what season I was in.
