I recently bought a building that includes various separate apartments, then the building is quite outdated in addition to features original hardwood floors, doors in addition to moldings.
- The pressing windows in addition to high ceilings make these apartments difficult to heat in addition to cool, however when I purchased the buildings there was no insulation in the walls in addition to ceilings; All of the windows were seriously outdated in addition to leaked a tremendous amount of air.
The front in addition to back doors of the apartments lacked weatherstripping in addition to failed to shut securely. When I asked the renters if they had any complaints or problems, they all told myself and others about freezing conditions while in the Winter in addition to complications with heat in addition to humidity in the summer. They were unhappy with the performance of the heating in addition to cooling systems in addition to hoped I’d consider replacing them. I checked the weekly utility costs in addition to saw a steady increase over the years. I then hired a local Heating in addition to Air Conditioning company to look over the heating in addition to cooling equipment. The company found that the units were not outdated but had not been respectfully cared for. The renters had failed to consistently substitute air filters in addition to the former owner hadn’t kept up with professional service. A thorough cleaning in addition to adjustment of the heating in addition to cooling system significantly improved efficiency, capacity in addition to indoor air pollen levels. I bought a supply of filters in addition to handed them out to the renters. I also went around the apartments in addition to completed a long list of improvements to eliminate energy waste. I installed installation, substituted windows, purchased new exterior doors, caulked in addition to weatherstripped. The renters are not much happier with the comfort level of their apartments. I’m thankful that the weekly utility bills aren’t costing myself and others as much.
