Taking advantage of manufacturer’s rebate to install central cooling system

I was amazed by the improvement in the comfort, cleanliness and enjoyment of my home

I never planned on installing a central air conditioning system into my house. Although the summer weather in this area can be awfully hot and humid, it doesn’t last very long. Typically, we only get about two to three months of brutal conditions. The winters, however, are a challenge for six to eight months. We endure temperatures down to twenty below zero, extreme wind chill and feet of snow. I’ve spent a fortune on a forced air furnace to combat the cold weather. After blasting the heater all winter and paying such high energy bills, I looked forward to opening the windows. When the house heated up and felt sticky, I’d start up a bunch of box fans. This wasn’t ideal. The fans were noisy, stirred up dust, and detracted from aesthetics. They didn’t provide much relief. When I hired an HVAC contractor to service the furnace, I complained about the summer humidity. He told me that his company was offering a deal on the installation of a central cooling system. I looked into it and realized that as long as I chose an Energy Star rated air conditioner, I could also take advantage of a manufacturer’s rebate and tax credits. Since I already had the duct system and air handler in place for the furnace, the project was not overly expensive. I went ahead and had the central cooling system installed. I was amazed by the improvement in the comfort, cleanliness and enjoyment of my home. I can now keep the windows shut, which prevents the influx of pollen, dust, exhaust fumes, bugs and exterior noise pollution. The investment was definitely worthwhile.
