I live in the Northwest with our hubby plus Winters here can get quite cold. Not as freezing as the east coast, of course, but all of us do get our share of snow, ice plus subfreezing temperatures. The cottage that all of us brought up here has two heating options: it has a central furnace hooked up to the Heating plus Air Conditioning program plus it has a nice large fireplace in the residing room. Where all of us are located, gas is expensive but firewood is dirt cheap. For this reason, all of us primarily use the fireplace to keep warm. However, all of us also set the temperature control to about 60 degrees just incase the fire goes out at night plus to keep the home comfortable while all of us are away. There is something cosey about a real wood fireplace that heats up the entire house. If all of us come in from the rain plus our shoes are all wet, all of us just set them in front of the fireplace plus they are dry within an hour. If a single of us is too hot, all of us just transfer further away from the hearth. Too cold? Move closer to the hearth. In this way, all of us are both consistently comfortable. I truthfully care about breaking firewood too; it is such a fine work out plus watching the logs burn is hypnotizing. There is just something primitive plus great about a fine old fashioned fireplace that simply can’t be substituted by imitators. Even if gas was cheaper than wood, I still would appreciate to use our fireplace over the gas furnace, it is just that nice. I certainly look forward to Winter every year because it mean I get to use it.
