Winter was ending and it was a nice spring day. The weather was finally warming up and I was looking forward to the onset of spring. Even though it was nice outside, there was a movie that the kids wanted us to go see. It thought it was better to enjoy the nice day then to be cooped up indoors, but I also knew they had been anticipating this movie for some time, so I brought them too see it. Well, apparently the movie theater did not acknowledge the early spring because they had their heat on full blast. I could feel the heat the instant we walked into the lobby. It was far too hot and stuffy. Once we found our seats it felt even warmer. I could both hear and feel the hot air filtering through the vents. While the commercials started, I stalked back out to the lobby to see what could be done about the temperature. The employees there explained that only the owner of the establishment had control of the thermostat and that there was nothing they could do. They offered to open up an emergency exit door in the theater and that gave us some fresh air, but it also let in light and outside noise. The kids didn’t seem bothered by the heat or any of the other distractions. They were enamored by their movie. I’m thankful for that at least. On the next outing, I don’t think we’ll be coming back to this hot theater though. Better yet, I think we will all just go to a park and enjoy the nice weather rather than be cooped up inside of a building with the heater on.
