My little brother suggested we go camping in the middle of the summer. I thought it was a terrible idea, but he insisted that things would be okay. We had plenty of camping supplies, like a large tent, two Coleman coolers, and a small barbecue grill. We had sleeping bags, air mattresses, and a variety of insect repellents. My biggest concern was the heat and humidity, but my little brother came prepared. He brought plenty of water, ice and gatorade. He also brought a small portable air conditioner. The air conditioner ran off 110 power, which we had at our camping tent site. We plugged in the portable air conditioner on one side of the tent, and ran the exhaust pipe out the other side of the tent. The temperature outside was 93 degrees, when my brother and I arrived to our tent camping site on Thursday morning. After the portable air conditioner was running for two hours, the temperature inside our tent was a cozy and comfortable 73°. I thought there would be some damp air inside the tent, but the breeze was comfortable and crisp. My brother was a genius, bringing that portable air conditioner on our camping trip. We slept like a couple of kings, and we were well-rested to spend the day hiking, fishing, and telling stories. If we ever decide to go camping in the summer again, we will definitely bring the portable air conditioner along. I don’t know if the purchase was expensive, but it was well worth the investment. That made summer camping a much more enjoyable experience.
