Opening up the doors

Throughout college, my friends and I were adventurous. Our small college town had little to offer, so the weekends were for road trips and getaways to nearby cities. We all were interested in exploring new areas and trying new food, so each weekend we would choose a new place to venture for the weekend. Like most college students, our budget was very limited and the cars we had at the time were reliable, but nothing flashy.  Typically, we would take my best friends car because she had the best air conditioning system in her car and she loved to drive. As we did every weekend, we all piled into her car and set off, radio and air conditioning blasting to find our summer weekend adventure. The temperatures had been extremely high throughout that summer and we were all grateful for the cool air coming from the air conditioning. When we stopped for small breaks, we would rush from the air conditioning of her car through the balmy summer air into the cool air conditioning of our stop. We were set for another great weekend, until, without warning the air conditioning completely stopped blowing. Although there was air coming from the air conditioning, the fan was not working and it was warm air. We rolled down the windows and tried to make the best of it, but the heat inside the car was almost unbearable. Only half way to our destination, we made a stop at the local mechanic to see if they could help. We sat inside the air conditioned shop waiting for the mechanic to assess the problem. Luckily, the problem was an easy fix so we soon had an air conditioned car once again and were able to enjoy the rest of our weekend trip.
