These old bones don’t do so good over the winter any more. It has been a long time coming, to be honest, because I was never someone who cared for cold weather. Not caring for it is one thing, hating it is another, but when cold weather can actually cause you pain, that is a whole other kettle of fish. I was able to get my medical insurance to pay some moving expenses so I could migrate to warmer environs. Now I am further south, within an hour of the water, and I am feeling a whole lot better. One of the problems I had up north was that natural heating works so much better than forced air systems. In other words, the furnace can take the chill out of the house, but it doesn’t heat me deeply enough to relieve the pain in my joints and bones. Nothing works for making me feel better than a long soak in the sunshine, better than any heating system ever made by man. Don’t get me wrong, I still use the furnace in my new place pretty regularly, especially during the chill of the late night hours. At my age, life is more about the quality of my days than planning for the future, so I use my furnace quite often even though I don’t need to do so. Why shouldn’t I have the best of both worlds, sunbathing in the day and retreating to a warm heater at night? At my age, I think I have earned all the heating I want.
