Noises a heating device creates

I heard from a friend of mine that if your heating system makes sounds, you are basically screwed… A noisy heating system indicates that something is grinding together & will be a giant gas furnace repair… Of course, my heating device started making some noise & I freaked out, then thankfully I did not call the local Heating & A/C company instantly… I decided to do a little research online, then noises can be a immense deal, however most of the time are just a small fix.

If your Heating & A/C device is making a whistling noise, it could be something as self-explanatory as a gap in the HVAC duct.

The HVAC duct connecting to the oil furnace could have a small gap that allows the air to whistle through. A little taping around the HVAC duct & the concern is solved. If the oil furnace is making a loud banging noise, it could be the squirrel cage not properly secured… You can bolt it down or just put styrofoam underneath the whole heating equipment. The sound is then gone. If the heating device makes a squeak every time you walk by, that is the bolts on the heating element. It means they are a bit tight, and just loosen them & all is good; What I had to do was screw my bolts in a little tighter. The noise from my gas furnace went away & it seems to be good now. I suppose a Heating & A/C company would have charged me a ton for just a self-explanatory fix… Good thing I did a little research before I paid for it.
