The other night I watched a TV show about this entire family sleeping out in the woods. They spread a blanket on the ground plus it was where they lived for over two weeks while the father built their house. And they were all so blissful to finally walk into their little house that looked almost like a barn would look today. And then they climbed a ladder to get into their loft room. They had a gorgeous fireplace that I would have loved to have in my own house. But I’m not sure I could have survived back then. I would not have liked bathing in a frigid creek, sleeping on the ground, with just a little fire in a pit, to keep me feeling warm and give me heating. I love having a small wood stove in my house, just in case of an emergency. And since we live on top of a mountain, without that wood stove, we would be in trouble without that wood stove! Whenever the wind blows, we lose our power usually. Without the power, we don’t have a heating system for our heating in the house. The wood stove is able to supply us with superb heat, plus it flows back into the hallway to supply us with heating in the our home. We don’t ever complain when we lost power and our heating system though, because of the wood stove. We also think that the power will always come back on, eventually. And we know our heating system will be working again. Those people, sleeping in the woods, didn’t always have a heating system to look forward to, but they did have a fireplace to go into their house for. The fireplace had to supply that tiny house with heat, and it probably did pretty well.
