Muffling the noise of the air conditioner

I’ve regularly like to relax and watch the birds. In the part of the country I live in, there is a vast variety of them almost year round. I put up different size feeders for them off of the back porch. I have great big windows, taller than I am, that overlook my back porch and I can watch the birds all day if I want to.  The only issue is my air conditioner compressor is so near to my back porch. Everytime it turns on, the birds simply fly away. The air conditioner compressor is so very loud, both indoors and outside! So, it is no wonder it scares the birds away. I have l adjusted to living with the noise by turning the TV volume up. I hardly even notice it anymore but for the fact the birds all leave as it turns on. I would particularly like to transform my backyard more nature friendly. I have ideas for setting up a frog pond and growing more native plants and flowers for our bees and butterflies.  But, having a noise compressor back there so will not do for my long or short term plans. I would particularly like to discover if there is such a unit as a completely quiet compressor or if there could be some way to muffle the noise of our air conditioner. I imagine that moving an air conditioner compressor would be rather costly and messy. After all, everything in the house connects to it. But I just can’t help but wonder what would be less expensive: moving my current compressor to the front yard or buyin a new compressor that is more silent.
