I am a dog person, and I always have been. I like animals in general, don’t care much for cats, but I have always had a soft spot for our canine best friends. I remember getting my first puppy as a young boy, and I have had the love for them ever since. Recently I encountered a mean dog that hated me, and this was the first time in my life this has happened. Not all dogs love me, but I have never encountered one that instinctively hated me so completely, almost to the point that I couldn’t do my job.
I am an HVAC technician, and for the most part I specialize in complete system replacement and not repairs. I will do tune-ups and system upgrades from time to time, but my speciality is removing the old HVAC system and doing a total replacement job. On my first day at the new job site I was still unloading my tools from the HVAC work van when this dog bursts out of the front door snarling at me. The owner brought the dog to heel and locked him in the garage so I could start work on the air conditioner in the backyard.
While I was back there hooking up the new AC unit I saw that dog with its nose pressed against the glass in the back door, watching me. Normally I have a steady hand, but that prison yard stare from the dog got my hands to shaking so badly the AC replacement took a lot longer than it normally does.
