My brother and I grew up playing many different sports. During the fall and winter, my brother and I played football and basketball. During the Spring, we played baseball. We always had a lot of fun with our friends, and we even managed to win a championship or two. When my wife and I had kids, we tried to focus on Sports and academics. We were happy when both of our kids liked basketball. They started shooting Hoops around eight years of age, and continued right into High School. Since my oldest child was held back a grade, both of the boys finished their senior year of school together. They were both on the varsity basketball team, waiting and hoping for a college scholarship. When my wife and I found out that the gym was going to be closed during basketball season, we were very upset. The school needed to update the HVAC equipment. A recent investigation of the ductwork revealed a grave mold issue. The school needed to close the gym immediately and begin to remediate the mold in the ductwork. Since the HVAC system was well aged, they decide to renew the entire system at once. The kids were devastated the problem could not wait. The parents were outraged, but the school board could not do anything. The health department demanded the HVAC ductwork be fixed. Luckily, the local YMCA allowed us to use the basketball court for practice. All of the games are now away games, but none of the kids will miss out on scholarship opportunities.
