All I wanted was a ride to the doctor’s office.
- My husband was out of town.
My kids were working and unable to get out of work, and I was getting my eyes dilated. I knew I couldn’t drive myself and I didn’t have anyone to ask other than my best friend. She seemed okay with taking me but she wasn’t so happy when she picked me up. Her air conditioning had quit working the night before and she acted like she had got out of the wrong side of the bed. It wasn’t my fault the air conditioning had quit working, and I couldn’t figure out why she was taking it out on me. She got mad at me for not talking to her and told me I was so ungrateful. She left the house when her husband was angry at the HVAC company and I wouldn’t even talk to her. I tried to explain but she wasn’t hearing any of it. As soon as we stopped at the doctor’s office I jumped out. The only thing that cheered her up was when she walked into the office and the air conditioner blasted in her face. When I was called back to the office, I didn’t even ask her if she wanted to come back. I got up and walked back. By the time I came out, she was gone and I didn’t know if she was waiting for me or not. She was in the car waiting for me and didn’t say a word all the way home. I threw $10 on the car seat when I got out and I ran up to the house. I didn’t talk to her for almost a month.
