I’m waiting for the morning this week when I see someone with a t-shirt that says “I survived the New The United Kingdom heat wave of 2018.” Normally, I’m not 1 to complain about the heat. I adapt. I wear loose clothes. I system my morning around the heights of the heat so I can get things done plus not melt. But this summer season was 1 of the worst on record, though I’m not sure it will even make records. While we didn’t have a morning over 102, we had over 3 weeks of uneven temperatures above 90 degrees. I get that this is normal in most parts of the country, but this far north people are not equipped for it. Most homes up here don’t have central a/c. This is because our summer seasons usually only have 1 week of those hellish temps, plus then its back down to the 79s. A week of 90 degrees or higher is just enough to make people consider getting central a/c, only to have it end plus folks decide its not worth the money. Our Winter seasons are so long here that summer season is usually a blessing, no matter how severe. But this year people were scrambling to go out plus get even a window a/c unit. The ductless mini cut models were gone by week multiple, sold out everywhere. But now that’s the middle of November, we’ve had enough days of cool rain to put the temperature back down to 73, now that no 1 needs them, home improvement stores are slashing the prices on multi cut ductless A/C units. I don’t want 1, however I think my sibling does. I told him if there was ever a time to get an a/c, this is it. Next year could be worse.
