I wasn’t worrying

For the past couple of weeks, I have heard a strange noise coming from under the hood. My work van has over 200,000 miles, and it’s nearly twenty years old. I drive the van all over the city. In a normal day, I probably drive 200 or 300 miles. That happens to be a lot of wear and tear on the old van. I was on my way to an A/C tune-up yesterday, when the van stopped working. I was sitting in traffic on the bridge, when the whole van stopped. It seemed like the engine cut off in an instant.  I called the owner of the HVAC company first. I needed a tow truck and a mechanic. Next, I called the customer who was waiting for A/C tune-up service. I explained the unique situation and she rescheduled the HVAC tune-up for the following day. I sat on the bridge for two hours, before a wrecker came to pick up me and the van. We took the van to our HVAC repair shop, so the mechanic could evaluate the problem. I took another HVAC repair truck to the shop, and continued with my list of jobs for the day. At the end of the day, I came back to the shop. That’s when I got the bad news. My work van blew the engine. It would cost a fortune to replace the engine, so the company is going to scrap the van and buy a new one. Now I have to wait a few months for a new work van. In the meantime, I am stuck in an old van without any heat or A/C.
