Just about everything these days seems to be connected. Connected in the sense that there is someway that it can be controlled by the internet. As a salesman for a local appliance store, it is important that I understand this new technology inside and out. I had the opportunity to attend the annual technology trade show this year and I was blown away by the possibilities. What really got me was how the diagnostics on these new appliances could be done. You don’t even have to have a technician come to the house for the most part to see what is wrong with your refrigerator, stove, washer, or even your HVAC system. These units can be diagnosed, in many cases but remotely connected them to your WiFi system. If there are physical repairs that need to be done, a technician can come to your home with the parts needed instead of checking it, ordering the parts, and then coming back to do the repairs. This is awesome because people are busy and don’t always have the time for multiple appointments. I now go into sales calls with this in mind. I quickly assess my clients and determine if I should go high tech or traditional in my sales pitch. It is great to be able to offer exactly what they are looking for. Younger clients, in particular, want everything to be easy to operate and program. They don’t want to have the hassle of checking things on a daily basis or remembering when to call for service. A programmable appliance or HVAC system is perfect for their lifestyles.
