Last week, my air conditioner broke.
It was an old window air conditioner, and I knew that I was going to have to replace it soon.
I was hoping that it would last until next year because I had been saving up the money to purchase a central air conditioner which would help eliminate my need for any window air conditioners. However, I was planning on just paying a large down payment and paying off the central air conditioner over a period of time. However, one of my friends heard that my air conditioner broke, and he offered to help me fix it. He said that he had fixed his air conditioner once, and he was pretty confident that it sounded like the same problem. I figured that I would give it a shot. If he could get my air conditioner to last one more year, then I wouldn’t have to take out a loan for the central air conditioner. I told him that I wouldn’t pay him for anything unless the air conditioner was fixed, and he said that that sounded fair. For nearly a week, he toyed with that window air conditioner to try to get it to work. Finally, he looked at me and admitted that he couldn’t figure out how to fix my air conditioner. I gave him some money for the effort, and then I called the HVAC technician to have him install the central air conditioner that I took the loan out for. I guessed that my friend wouldn’t be able to fix the air conditioner.
