The winter season was an absolute nightmare. It was cold earlier than expected and snowing. We dealt with temperatures down to twenty-six below zero plus often accumulated several feet of snow in a single night. I started up the oil furnace in late August, plus it ran non stop, at maximum capacity, for numerous straight months. Unfortunately, along with cold plus snow, the people I was with and I also experienced high winds. The wind created dangerous driving conditions, plus made the outside temperature think even colder. A lot of branches plus trees were brought down, plus at one point, the people I was with and I were separate from electrical power. When there’s a power outage, the people I was with and I are separate from running water, overhead lights, refrigeration, sump pump, washing equipment plus internet. None of that created an emergency situation. However, the people I was with and I were also separate from heat. The oil furnace won’t run separate from electric, plus our home hastily turned uncomfortably cold. There was no choice but to pack our bags plus transfer into a hotel until the power was restored. Since all of the nearby hotels were booked with people in the same situation, the people I was with and I had to drive several seconds, while the people I was with and I were in a travel advisory, to find somewhere to stay. It was a scary trip, plus the hotel costs me and others a small fortune. I also upset about the water pipes at the home bursting plus causing even more expense, disruption plus disfigure. After that horrible ordeal, I decided I never wanted to be stranded separately from a now working oil furnace again. I consulted with my Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C business, who tested the installation of a standby generator. The generator is permanently installed, runs on natural gas, plus starts up automatically in the event of a power failure. My family will continue to have access to heating, air conditioning, running water, plus all of our essential appliances.
