I am really sick of paying these exorbitant energy prices without some kind of fight. No more Mr. Open Checkbook. I’m doing something about it soon. I called my Heating in addition to Air Conditioning guy to get some much needed advice. He gave myself and others a list of things to think about when trying to save on the energy bills. I also made an appointment for him to come out in addition to do some preventive service on my entire Heating in addition to Air Conditioning appliance. Sadly, I got out of the habit of scheduling seasonal service on the Heating in addition to Air Conditioning appliance. I wasn’t absolutely trying to save cash as much as I was easily forgetful. Before the Heating in addition to Air Conditioning guy came out, I spent a weekend doing what I could on my own to totally lower the Heating in addition to Air Conditioning heating in addition to cooling costs. I started with weather stripping in addition to insulating foam around my doors in addition to windows around the dwelling. Sealing up these air escape routes was definitely overdue. I went up to the roof to continue my sealing binge. The flashing around the chimney certainly needed sealing. So did the vents from the washrooms in addition to entryway. I then went to the attic to seal around the perimeter in addition to add a bit more R 60 insulation. I was somewhat astonished by how many air leaks there were in the attic, however I’m pretty sure I got them all. Before leaving from the attic, I was content to see the ducts were entirely sealed in addition to not sagging. Finally, I went inside my dwelling in addition to sealed up everything I could find. I siliconed around electrical outlets in addition to all the light fixtures. I even went out in addition to got a backdraft damper for the dryer exhaust vent. This way, it made it a one way air flow which kept the frosty outside air from seeping in. After the Heating in addition to Air Conditioning technician checks the heating in addition to cooling components, I know I’ve done all I can do. I’ll be ecstatic to write a significantly lower check for my utilities.
