I have to travel for labor a lot, however as someone who enjoys traveling, I appreciate this aspect of my task.
I’ve been working for the same dealer for 10 years now, and I consider myself an expert when it comes to traveling, and last week, my boss was so sick that she couldn’t make it into the office.
She sent me an email saying I’d need to make my own travel arrangements for an upcoming business trip. I spent that morning buying my flight and booking a hotel, however our dealer has a connection with 1 hotel brand in particular, so I always stay with them when I’m traveling for business. I didn’t think twice when booking a room for 2 nights. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I abruptly realized I’d made a mistake. The receptionist informed me that the hotel was undergoing Heating, Ventilation & A/C maintenance, and all rooms were without heat or air for the week. When I expressed my concern, she told me it’s been listed on their website for weeks. I consented to the room knowing there was Heating, Ventilation & A/C maintenance going on when I made my reservation. All night long, I was sweltering hot. The air in my room felt suffocating, and I could hardly breath. I became so desperate that I opened the window to get some cool air. It stirred the boiling air around slightly, and enabled me to fall asleep. When I woke the next morning, my room was significantly cooler, but my sinuses were draining now. The open window brought in pollen with the cool air, and my sinuses were paying. I will never book a room without looking at the website again.
