I can’t think straight knowing that in just two weeks I’ll be going on vacation and getting away from all of this nasty weather at last. Every year, I make it a point to fly down to the south in late December to see my loving family for the holidays; although we all are at our jobs a lot and our stay is never as long as we all would like like, any chance we get to see each other is truly worth it to me. It’s constantly a little unusual for me though, as I have to switch from wearing wintertime boots and a parka to sandals and maybe a light cardigan at night, but during the morning, I no longer have to turn up the control equipment to turn on the oil furnace in my work office. Instead, I’m increasing the air conditioning at our parent’s beach condo so we can stay cool during the midday heat. Instead of seeing snow and worrying about when I have to have our next oil furnace fill-up, I’m remembering to reapply sunscreen after I get out from swimming in the sparkling blue ocean. Sometimes I worry that I’ll catch an actual cold from the insane temperature difference, but the awesome HVAC setup at my parent’s locale keeps all of us perfectly comfortable. Plus, everytime I come to visit, the central air conditioning is always working in perfect shape. They never have an AC breakdown, even though they run it just about year round non-stop, because they get their bi-annual HVAC repair. This is something they’ve passed onto all of their children as well as myself. Though we live on opposite ends of the country now, our parents and their kids still have one thing in common: we constantly make sure to book our annual heating and cooling repair appointments so our HVAC systems always work perfectly when we absolutely need them most.
