Last Spring, as the weather started to hot up, I noticed an untypical amount of bees flying around the outside of our house. I didn’t spend our savings them much attention. However, once I started our Spring cleaning, I heard a buzzing sound in the exterior wall of the home office. I was alarmed by the idea of bees building a nest, however had no idea what to do about it. I walked around the outside plus inside of the house, however couldn’t figure out where the bees had gotten in. Eventually, single bees began to show up inside the home office. Every couple of afternoons, we’d have another bee flying around, scaring our kids. My husband plus I devoted a lot of time to chasing down bees with a flyswatter. The problem got way worse when the weather warmed up plus I lowered the thermostat. When the air conditioner turned on, a whole swarm of miserable bees flooded the home office. That’s when both of us realized that the bees had built their nest inside of the HVAC duct. I called a licensed Heating plus Air Conditioning supplier who told me that I’d first need to get an exterminator. I had some trouble finding an exterminator who was certified to remove the bees. I hadn’t realized that bees are protected plus handling them requires special training plus licenses. Once the bees were removed from the HVAC duct, I then needed to call back the Heating plus Air Conditioning serviceman to thoroughly wipe the HVAC duct. The bees left behind quite a mess, which blocked airflow through the ducts plus contaminated indoor air pollen levels.
