Heater Renovations

When I grew up and started a family of my own, I decided to purchase my childhood home from my parents. I had so many positive memories, plus it was in a great location, was recently renovated, and my parents gave me a great deal on it. The only issue is that the heater has not been replaced since I was a young boy. That means we’ve had the same oil furnace for about 30 years. Now that I have young children of my own, I want a heating method that is safer and more reliable. Since the furnace is already 30 years old, that means it could stop working at any point. I would rather be proactive and replace the furnace before it gives us trouble. Not to mention, oil furnaces are clunky and hot to the touch. Since my kids are so young, I worry that they will accidentally bump into the furnace and get burned by the hot surfaces. I also hear that there is a greater risk for a carbon monoxide leak with older furnaces like this one. Ultimately, upgrading to a newer heating system seems like a no brainer. I explored a number of options, but ultimately I have selected a split duct heating and cooling system for the entire home. I like the idea of having different rooms in the house at different temperatures. I want everyone to be able to adjust the temperature in their room without bothering anyone else in the house. Plus, I will be able to lower the heat in rooms that are not in use so that we can save some money. I’ve contacted a heating and cooling company, and they should come to install the new system next week. I am really looking forward to it!
