It hardly ever gets cold or wet where I live. Days tend to be sunny and dry, which is one of the principal reasons why I love living here in the first place! After all, I do love me some fresh air and sunshine. This past month, however, things have been uncharacteristically cold and wet in our weather forecast. There is a damp chill in the air that you can feel in your bones. I could not recall the last time I had used my fireplace, but I sure was using it for the past week. Particularly because I caught a cold, and a cold and damp house is the last thing that you want when you are sick. I guess I discovered the novelty of enjoying a good book and a cup of tea on a cold, rainy day as you sit by your fire. I also cranked my heater way up to compensate for the chills I was getting. There are times when I feel I cannot justify the fact that I have such a robust heating system in such a mild climate. I certainly was grateful for it this past week, as I was sick. If I did not have any central heat, I would be miserable. I guess in the end, it is better to have a good heating system handy for the uncharacteristically cold weather that may occur during the colder months of the year. Cranking up the heat, combined with plenty of chicken soup and tea really helped me shake off the cold in the end.
