Doing my research

My mom was a chainsmoker her whole life. In fact, there wasn’t a time where I saw her without a cigarette in her hand, which is a little sad as far as memories go. Aside from the toll cigarettes took on her body, my mom’s addiction to smoking also led to my father breathing in a lot of second hand smoke, which eventually led to lung disease. Then there was the rest of us living in the house. I had three older brothers and we all lived in that smoke-filled house for over twenty years. Just imagine how a home would smell if someone had smoked a pack or more of cigarettes a day, every day for all of those years. That’s right! No matter how powerful any air freshener claims to be, there’s no “odor eliminator” spray that can improve indoor air quality enough to compensate for that much smoke. The odor was literally ingrained into the wood floors.  When I asked around to see if there was anything that could be done to address the odor, it was recommended that I look into an air purifier system to add on to the existing HVAC system. The air purifier would cleanse re-circulated air to remove impurities, not just odors! This was good news to me, since I always seem to be overly sensitive to odors. And I have allergies as well! All in all, as far as odor removal goes, the air purifier seemed to be the best option. After setting up an appointment with an HVAC company, a specialist came a few days later to install the air purifier. Once we got it up and running, the air purifier hummed quietly beside the central a/c unit. Within several weeks, I noticed a quite a difference in the air quality of our house! Better yet, the cigarette odor was amazingly faint.
