Deciding to live with a boyfriend or girlfriend is a huge milestone in a relationship.

Moving in with a boyfriend or girlfriend requires a lot of thought and compromise. If the two people who are moving in together are merging their single-life homes, it can get a bit messy. Who gets to keep their own sofa in the new place? Which bed do we keep, or do we just buy a new one all together? What happens if we break up? Why do we have so many coffee mugs? All of these factors must be considered before the big move. Keep in mind that you will be living with this person all day everyday. You will see the good, the bad and the ugly of your partner. Living with a partner who enjoys the temperature of the home to be other than what you are comfortable with can be detrimental to the relationship. Some people sleep best with the ceiling fan on full blast and the aic conditioner down to arctic temperatures. On the other hand, some people sleep peacefully with the air conditioner set to 78. If you and your partner are on opposite ends of this spectrum, you might be in trouble. Being too hot or too cold while trying to sleep can cause sleep disruptions, resulting in an unpleasant mood the next day. Compromise and adjustment are your only options. You could try taking turns of who has control of the HVAC. For example, every other night one of you gets the set the HVAC thermostat to what you find to be a desirable sleeping temperature. The unlucky partner will have to bundle up or sleep with a lighter blanket that night!
