Cabin in the woods

While the prospect of camping makes me about as excited as the prospect of watching paint dry over my own eyeballs, I do like the idea of staying in a cabin in the woods. I love the great outdoors, but I’m no fool! I won’t immerse myself in it and risk getting bitten by mosquitoes, ticks and snakes. No, I prefer viewing nature up close but from the comfort of a warm cabin. That’s why I usually take a small vacation alone, and retreat to this remote cabin about five miles away from the nearest town. This cabin still has power, running water, and also has a wood-burning stove to provide warmth. Best of all, I have a ductless mini-split air conditioning system to keep the cabin cool! Since the weather in this area tends to be warmer than colder, the ductless mini-split system does the heavy lifting for keeping my vacation home comfortable. Unlike the wood burning stove, the ductless mini-split system doesn’t negatively affect the air quality in the cabin, so I can run it for hours without having to deal with difficulty breathing inside the house. The ductless mini-split system is also wonderful for when I make it back to the campsite after being out in the wild all day, pouring sweat into my clothes. Walking into a chilled cabin is such a relief! It’s always a sad day when I have to pack up and head back to my real life, day job and all those responsibilities. But hey, there’s always the next vacation to look forward to!
