I’ve had my furnace for nearly 30 years now, and I never had issues with it. I hear of people calling the heating and cooling company left and right these days, but I’ve never once had to worry about that. However, I recognize that things age and get beat up, so I want to replace my furnace before it shuts down on me. My kids are trying to convince me to switch over to some fancy radiant heated flooring system. They insist that it will be easy to maintain, quiet, and very effective. What my kids have a hard time understanding is that I am the type of person who believes strongly in the expression “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.” My oil furnace has been nothing but reliable for a very long time. Around here, we endure long and tough winters. Most days, temperatures are below freezing. Therefore, we rely heavily on our heating, so I take this decision very seriously. What I want is a unit that will be reliable and withstand the test of time with little issues, and that’s exactly what the oil furnace provides. I don’t need the fancy new features. I don’t need what’s new and shiny. I just need something that I know will work and provide for me. Even though my kids can’t understand it, I have already scheduled an appointment for a heating and cooling company to remove my current furnace and replace it with a newer model. As far as I’m concerned, that’s about as much newness as we need in this decision. The oil furnace installation will take place over the course of two days, and then we’ll be good to go! I am really looking forward to it!
