I don’t know if you’ve ever heated with a boiler unit, but my family has used a boiler for our heating system for as long as I can remember. And of course, with whichever heating system you or your family uses, you’re going to end up with some service repair and maintenance issues every once in a while. And that’s no matter how great your heating system is. Any heating system will have to have general wear and tear addressed eventually, right? Well, if you have a boiler as your heating system, then you’ll probably agree with me that a boiler leak is one of the biggest pains in the butt that you can possibly have with your heating system! If you do find a leak in your boiler, then you have to immediately shut down your entire heating system and call your local HVAC provider to come and check things out. Fixing a boiler leak isn’t something that you should try to do on your own; having a professional HVAC technician to look at the leak and the boiler unit is highly recommended. I know that I would never want to mess around with our boiler system on my own! To be honestly, the boiler scares me a little bit, and we’ve had a boiler in our basement for my whole life! But believe me, if I ever detected a leak, I’d be on the phone to the HVAC company right away. Rusty areas and corrosion on or around your boiler are reasons to call your HVAC company, too, in case you can stop a leak before it starts.
