Sometime, you know from the beginning you have a terrible landlord; however, the rent or location is too hard to pass up; you take the lake house and just suffer through the disadvantages, but recently, I rented a small cottage in a great section of town. I wanted to be closer to my work, so I took the rent increase for all the positives that my current to me cottage would offer me, and honestly, I didn’t check out the landlord as thoroughly as I tend to do, for this current home was in such a better neighborhood than others I had rented. Well, I l acquired my lesson the hard way, fall was setting in fast in our neck of the woods and the chilly was bitterly felt in the early morning hours. I knew it was time to turn on the Heating, ventilation & cooling unit. I went over to the temperature control to supply it a gentle start. I knew you needed to go slow with any unit, when it hasn’t been in gear for some time. Well, the sound was bad. I mean very bad. It screeched, it blasted and it stunk like there was no end in site! This was bad. I called the landlord for hours, then mornings and finally after a week of being frozen, I offered up. I called the local Heating, ventilation & A/C provider to come over and look at the unit. She said that she had not repaired this unit since it was installed years ago! She opened the vents that were rusted shut and the filters were completely clogged. The ductwork was infested with mold and dead bugs! The entire heating and cooling unit needed to be replaced. The landlord finally called me back. She knew she was at fault and approved all of the work and replacement.
