When I was in my early 20s, I worked in a used library… At the time I was working hard on my graduate degree. The crazy hours the store owner needed myself and others for honestly worked perfectly with the hours I had to go to class. I had looked at a lot of tasks, and this was the only one I could find that provided the flexibility I needed to get where I wanted to go. Honestly, I sincerely believed that working at a used library would be pretty amazing. And at first, it was pretty great. I got to but various books on shelves and help people find excellent books. However, the boss had so many additional unusual tasks that I was perplexed when I wrapped up my initial month. One of the harder tasks I had to accomplish was the biweekly Heating & Air Conditioning machine repair… Now, we actually rented the building, so as far as I was concerned the heating and AC machine care should have been an actual part of the lease. That’s how it is with our residence, so our boss’ store front I imagine should have been the same way. But it wasn’t; the landlord refused to care for the Heating & Air Conditioning machine and our boss refused to pay for it. So instead, we did our own hodge podge Heating & Air Conditioning machine repair. I had to go into the utility closet, unscrew the panel, and remove the old air filter, and unlike the kind our parents have at our residence, this antiquated air filter needed to be cleaned, not replaced. So I would wait till after closing once a month and stay late to clean the air filter. As it dried, I would then get on a single one of the chairs, under the Heating & Air Conditioning machine vent and clean out the air duct too. It remains the absolute strangest task I’ve ever had.
