In my family, we are all sizable basketball fans. For Christmas just the other year, I bought tickets for an NBA game so we would be able to go downtown to see our favorite team play… If you’ve ever been to a major sporting event such as an NBA game, you would definitely know that one of the worst parts is waiting in line to use the restroom facilities. This game was definitely no exception. Since I have multiple teenagers, you can certainly understand that I ended up spending a great deal of time in line for the bathroom! Sadly, more than half of the stalls were locked with signs on them that read “Out of Order.” The bathroom attendant saw all of my teenagers sitting there & he apologized to us for the complete lack of plumbing facilities that night. He was saying that his boss, who was the head of repair & plumbing for the building, had been on the telephone for a majority of the day with their plumbing supplier. Plumbers had been in & out of the building for the entire day however there were some ongoing complications with the pipes & drainage that they had been unable to get working before the game began. I couldn’t truly believe that in an organization as sizable & wealthy as the NBA, they had been unable to manage to get some straightforward plumbing fixtures fixed & brought up to speed. If I were a plumber, I’d be willing to be on retainer for plumbing emergencies that happen at basketball games! But based on how much money I paid for our tickets, I would definitely be charging three times my normal plumbing repair rates for helping the NBA!
