Our son has always been called a “motorhead”. This means that for as long as every one of us can remember, he has been easily working on anything with an engine. Even when he was little every one of us would catch him out in the garage playing with various tools or trying to take things apart. For these reasons every one of us weren’t astonished when he told us he wished to race cars. He kept entirely working on ancient junkers plus was basically always trying to swap engines to make them move faster. When he was the appropriate age, he started looking into importing a Type-R, JDM Honda. He knew that it would have a robust enough engine right from the beginning although he had no understanding of the paperwork plus time that would be involved in shipping this classic car from Japan. Just finding a representative that could be trusted plus that spoke English fluently was a difficult thing in itself. However, without that, the whole investment would essentially be for nothing because he would have no way of seeing or driving the car before it arrived. With a superb rep on the other end he could be assured that his investment was worth the cost! It really pained us to watch him pour through the mountains of paperwork plus forms that were required to be completed just to begin the lengthy process. Once the initial purchase plus shipping supplier was accepted, it still took practically 2 weeks for the car to leave the Japanese port. The final arrival of the car is still a few weeks out. He will have a fabulous car to work with for racing when it is all finished. I only hope he doesn’t face any more red tape during this process.
