A new grocery store has opened up in my little city. Everyone is always pretty excited when we get anything new because our town is generally focused on college students, so we don’t have a lot of retail establishments that other cities get. For example, my friend loves to shop at Pottery Barn, but we do not have one, and we never will. The Pottery Barn representative told us when we requested they open one up here. The same thing is true of grocery stores. We don’t have that many options, so when this new one arrived from the west, we were all thrilled. The store is nice and everything, but there is a huge problem. The manager is from the west and can’t figure out how to use proper heating and cooling for our climate. Here in the southern part of the country, we need a/c to combat the heat and humidity. Our air conditioning systems come with dehumidifiers. In the manager’s neck of the woods, the climate is dry and much colder in the winter. The poor guy just can’t seem to figure out how to set the thermostat so that the HVAC system makes the place comfortable for us southerners. I’m not sure exactly what the problem is, but the place is always either being blasted with furnace air or cold air from the a/c to compensate for the heating that went overboard. Perhaps he has not figured out that the dehumidifier is part of the HVAC system. I understand that in the west where he is from, they have humidifiers instead. I hope the guy calls in for some help from someone because I want to shop in the store, but I can’t stand the crazy HVAC settings. I can’t spend my money somewhere that is uncomfortable to walk through.
